Château de Champs-sur-Marne is a spectacular stately home located just outside of Paris. Discover this palatial architectural jewel of the 18th century with this ticket!
Description
Stress isn't a 21st-century invention. The hurries and burdens of daily life took their toll in the 18th century too, and to alleviate the pressures of modern life, the wealthy élite of the era commissioned palatial mansions as their country escapes from the hustle and bustle of the cities. France is home to any number of these beautiful villas, and one of the most spectacular is the Château de Champs-sur-Marne, located just 15 miles (25 km) outside of Paris.
With your ticket to Château de Champs-sur-Marne, you'll have the opportunity to explore the exquisitely furnished rooms of the mansion at your own pace. Built in the early 18th century in neoclassical style, no expense was spared on the château's lavish interiors. Admire the stunning Chinese-style smoking room, the grand salons, the library and billiard room, and the carefully decorated bedchambers... each filled with beautiful art and antiques.
Your ticket also includes a booklet in English and other languages, thanks to which you'll have fascinating information about the château's history, architecture, and interiors, as well as about some of its most famous residents. Voltaire, Diderot, Madame de Pompadour, and Marcel Proust are just a handful of the iconic French figures who spent time at Château de Champs-sur-Marne over its history.
The château's gardens are equally as spectacular as the building itself. Elegant parterres, intricate fountains, and tranquil pathways combine to create a perfect example of 18th-century French and English landscaped parks. The more than 200 acres (85 hectares) of land surround the Château de Champs-sur-Marne with an incredible sense of peace, and it's well worth a stroll through the manicured lawns for a welcome escape from hectic daily life in Paris.
