On our San Juan de Gaztelugatxe Boat Trip from Bermeo, you'll get to explore an extraordinary corner of the Basque Coast. You'll also feel like a character from Game of Thrones!
San Juan de Gaztelugatxe Boat Trip
At your chosen time, we'll meet at the Puerto Viejo in Bermeo. From the port, we'll board the boat that'll take us on a pleasant journey to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.
During the crossing, from the boat, we'll see the colossal Cape Machichaco cliffs, which are crowned by a lighthouse 122 metres above sea level. We'll also pass by Punta Ermuak and the Aquech rock, a three-hectare headland inhabited by cormorants.
Little by little, we'll arrive at San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. This rocky islet is full of legends, pirate stories and mysticism, and has a stone bridge linked to a staircase with 241 steps.
From the boat, at the highest point, you'll admire a 10th century hermitage that has been rebuilt due to pirate attacks and fires in the past. This place will be a real treat for Game of Thrones fans, as it was the filming location for Dragonstone.
After admiring this unique spot on the rugged Basque Coast from its waters, we'll set off back to Bermeo. We should dock at the port 1 hour after our departure.
